Fantasy is Moodring's 6th UK single and second to be released on Fusion Records. It was released on October 25th and debuted at number one, a first for the group. It also charted at number one on downloads.
Background[edit | edit source]
Fantasy was written for the Tango Challenge heats, where Moodring won a place to compete along side Kirby L. Avalon thanks to the song. The band enjoyed performing the song so recorded a studio version which made the album, Mood Swings. It was since decided that it was one of the best songs on the album and so became their 6th single and first to reach number one on the main chart. It also reached number one on both airplay and downloads.
Release and reception[edit | edit source]
Fantasy proved popular with fans who voted the band into Tango Challenge because of it. It soon became a predicted number one by many critics, due to it's catchy pop sound, smooth vocal and increasing popularity of the Moodring girls.
Promotion[edit | edit source]
Promotion began in October and consisted of lots of live dates including one off concerts in Camden and Manchester to showcase the girls talents. Due to Cassie's pregnancy they did not perform the dance routine made popular by the music video, but instead performed largely acoustic versions of the track.
Music video[edit | edit source]
The music video was shot in May due to Cassie Garcia's pregnancy, it premiered on third October. The video showed the girls in the same place during two times. Firstly they are in a saloon and the surrounding desert, and secondly a modern club with a car park where the desert was. One feature remains the same, however, a large sign for the club, to indicate it is the same place. The video shows the girls doing a full on dance routine in the desert/car park, and includes a remixed portion for a dance break.
