Fusion Records Music Group (often shortened to Fusion) is the largest recorded music company of the "big four" record companies and is controlled by BBW Entertainment Group in London, England.

History[edit | edit source]

Fusion Records Music Group was set up in July 2010 after Wolfe pursued backing from HSBC Holdings plc and was granted a funding grant of £3,000,000. Wolfe, herself, invested over £1,000,000 of her own income. The record label began with Syd as Chairman & CEO of the company and Bre Washington as CFO. The company started out in small offices in the West End of London. As revenue & profit grew, within the first six months, Wolfe was able to pay back her grant to HSBC Holdings plc & become the sole owner of Fusion Records. Wolfe later bought Bre Washington out of her contract as CFO & later gave the position to MIDNIGHT in 2011. Aurora Reed was given the title of Executive Director in 2012.

Wired Records takeover[edit | edit source]

In 2011, Esmeralda Dimuzio struck an exclusive deal with Fusion Records when she decided to step down from her role at Wired Records and close the label down. Acts on the Wired Records roster were given the opportunity to move directly onto Fusion Records (at Syd Wolfe's discretion) or leave the label. Most chose to move to Fusion Records. As part of the deal, Dimuzio was given an Executive Director role for 8 months in 2011. This role was later withdrawn but Esmeralda still remains a roster act.

Locations[edit | edit source]

Fusion Records headquarters were initially over one floor of The Peak building in London's West End. They held this location until October 2012 when the label moved to 20 Fenchurch Street in the City of London. The label purchased the building in September 2011 and began work on it immediately. The building was formerly occupied by an investment banking company and was notable for being one of the first tall buildings in the City of London, and for its distinctive roof. It is one of the towers nearest to the River Thames when viewed from the southern end of London Bridge. Upon completion, the building stands at 160 m (525 ft) tall, with 36 storeys owned by Fusion Records Music Group. It is the Global headquarters for the group. Costing over £200 million, it was designed by architect Rafael Viñoly and features a highly distinctive, top-heavy form which appears to burst upward and outward

Associations[edit | edit source]

As part of Syd Wolfe's affiliation with URAPS Idol, the winners have been given a contract on Fusion Records since Season 12.

Controversy[edit | edit source]

Syd Wolfe sensationally & publicly dropped No Little Thing from the record label in 2011 when they bashed the label during an interview. Kleo was originally a part of the Fusion Records artist roster, but was released from her contract on April 27, 2012 when an unknown source confirmed to Wolfe that Kleo was planning to move to a rival record label. She announced the sacking on Twitter, which made front page headlines on many of the tabloid newspapers.
