"Without You" is the debut studio album by American rock singer Jessica Snow. The album was set to be released on February 15th, 2010, but it was cancelled after Jessica was dropped by her manager. The first and only single lifted off the album, "Need" was released January 25th, but also suffered due to Jessica being dropped by her manager. "Crashing Into You" was planned as the second single but these plans were dropped.

Background & Recording[edit | edit source]

Jessica had previously attempted to create a pop album when she was signed to Jive Records at the age of 15, back in 2001. Jessica was not a priority artist however, and her material was bounced back and forth by the label until it was decided that it would be a poor business decision to invest any more in Jessica's music, so the material remained unreleased and Jessica was released from her contract. For years Jessica continued to record demos which she sent out to various labels, but none were willing to give Jessica a chance, until an A&R executive from RCA Records finally gave Jessica's demo a listen and signed her to a new deal. Jessica was set up with industry professionals to help build her album; she recorded "Poison", a song written and produced by China, as well as a cover of "Flinch" by Alanis Morissette. The bulk of Jessica's material though, came when she worked with James Moss of Phoenix Rising. She became James' protegè, as he and the rest of Phoenix Rising wrote seven songs for Jessica's album, of which James produced all seven. A then-unknown Arianna DiCorso contributed what would become the title song of the album. The songs that Phoenix Rising were involved with were largely based on Jessica's life, written based on stories of her history that Jessica retold to the band. One of these songs featured guest vocals and piano by Victor Strong. This song was planned as the second single, and artwork was commissioned, but after the album was cancelled, plans for the single followed.

Cancellation & Aftermath[edit | edit source]

Jessica was suddenly dropped by her manager at the end of January 2010, just as her single "Need" charted. The album was completed and was halfway being revealed when its release was cancelled. As a result, James Moss shopped out the six remaining tracks that he produced for Jessica out to different artists. "Run" was picked up by DJ Double Garage for inclusion on his album "Metronomy", and Helena Rossi re-recorded the vocals on the new version of the song. [[Crystal Barker] picked up "That Just Sucks" for her sophomore album "Diamond In The Rough". Kaylee Walker picked up the Victor Strong duet "Crashing Into You", releasing it as a single herself. It became Kaylee's highest-charting single, but not her best-selling, remaining uncertified. "Tears" was given to Mark Charlie Wilson, who turned it into a country ballad. James Moss produced this version of the song as well. "All About You" and "Gone" were eventually picked up by Cassie Fox, who released her versions of the songs on her album "Underground". Arianna DiCorso took back "Without You" and recorded it for her debut album "Take A Picture, It'll Last Longer".
