Helena Rossi (born August 28th of 1988) is a popular female singer who has reached successful peaks in the UK, Australia, Japan and the US.
Biography[edit | edit source]
Early Life[edit | edit source]
Rossi was born into a typical Texas home, but quickly moved to Sydney, where her father had been working. Rossi moved to New York City at the age of 16 without her parents, and commenced her plan to become a superstar.
Before Music Career[edit | edit source]
In 2005, aged 17, Helena was scouted out by an employee at the Chanel Modelling Agency, and approached her to model for the successful brand. After agreeing, Rossi signed to a 5 year deal with the giant buesiness, and starred as a young beauty on the catwalk, as well as many magazine advertisements for the brand. In 2010 the contract expired and Rossi is now able to pursue other modelling venues. The modelling boosted Rossi into an acting career in many low budget movies. After a string of 'Straight-to-DVD' films, Helena decided it would be better to leave the acting profession, and hasn't starred in a movie since 2006.
2008: Queenbee[edit | edit source]
In October 2008 Helena travelled to the UK to get her big break as a musician, her one true passion. Sadly these dreams were shattered when the highly unsuccessful single, Dickhead failed to make waves on the UK charts. This didn't dampen her spirit, however, as she quickly planned a new single to follow,Colour Me In, which was badly received and evidently cancelled altogether. Helena had very little connections or even a stable relationship in the UK, but her good friend Elice Claire offered to write a track for her, which amounted to Top 10 hit, Vulnerable, Rossi's first single to chart officially. After the success, Helena decided to return to Australia to support them during the bushfire tragedy of 2009, where she released a promotional single One Thousand Stars, which would later become a track on the new album. Back in the UK, she spawned the release of another Claire penned track, Love Thug, which was a Top 10 hit, despite being released against Elice herself. The song was criminally underrated, admittedly by the UK buying public, who regretted it receiving such a low position. Rossi supported the biggest Japanese Pop Female Artist of all time, Ayumi Hamasaki, for 9 live shows in Japan. This was her first breakthrough in that market, and would form a partnership with the country that spawned many hits.
In late March she joined Elite Records, to support the release of her next single, No Fairytale and the upcoming album, Queenbee. Soon after she supported Elice Claire on her Strictly Censored Tour with China, which was hugely successful. A huge hit in the form of fourth single, No Fairytale, proved that Helena had staying power. This was her first single to be certified Platinum, and out-sold Love Thug in a matter of three weeks.
Her debut album, Queenbee was released June 1, 2009 in correspondence with the fourth single. While the album only managed to debut at #8, it eventually grew to be a big hit, selling almost half a million copies, and peaking at #4 by the end of it's run. It also held her highest selling single of all time, Scream Her Name, which was released as the fifth & final single from the album on August 24, 2009. The song was written by China and Yannik McQueen of Indigo Peak fame. One last promotional single, Closure was released in Japan to support her arrival and upcoming tour dates in the country, but was very unheard of.
2009: Fiction[edit | edit source]
After announcing a swift departure from Elite Records, Helena was quickly signed onto Saturdays Records to launch her second album, less than 6 months after the release of her debut album. The first single, Call of the Wild was written by mega-star Alesha, and debut at #2 on the UK charts upon it's release on November 29, 2009, which was the same day the hugely successful album Fiction was released. The album was well received, and debut atop the UK charts, and shifted almost a million copies in it's short run on the charts. Rossi's first number one single came in the form of Aggression/Rage, a follow up to Scream Her Name written by China & Yannik McQueen. The single performed well on the charts after it's huge debut, and was sadly the last single from the album in the UK. In Australia & Japan a spree of promotional singles were released to support the Best Fiction Tour, including Bite The Dust, Madame Royale, & Feed The Sharks. Each of them had it's own music video which was featured on the Tour Edition of the album released in 2010.
An intended re-release, Science, was cancelled after being announced later in 2010. The first single from Science, Bedlam Asylum only managed a peak of #4 but would eventually go Platinum. The single would then be added to the tracklisting of the third studio album.
2010: Manifesto[edit | edit source]
After setbacks with her label and writing, Helena finally released the first single from her third studio album, Manifesto. Maniac, written by Alesha, was released in November 23, 2010, and managed to peak at #3 despite the minimal promotional efforts. The album, released the same day, performed better debuting at the #1 spot, but only managing to sell less than half a million copies, due to the inconsistent support for the album at the time. Many single releases were planned following the album's release, which led to the music videos for Lovers on the Runaway, Firecracker & Physical Attraction being filmed and released with the album. The second single, released February 3rd, 2011, was Forbidden Ecstasy/Winding Road, which featured a 13 minute long dramatic music video. Despite the visual's success, the track faired much worse on the single's charts, being Helena's first single since Love Thug to miss the Top 5. It was only certified Silver, and resulted in Helena leaving her contract with Saturdays Records to rethink her career path and plans.
2012: Four of Hearts[edit | edit source]
Almost a year of failed planning of upcoming singles and re-releases led Helena to an extended vacation. But finally in May, 2012, Helena announced the release her first single release in a year, End of the World, which will be followed by an album and a tour months after. The single has been strategically planned under her own record label, Hearts Records, which gives her freedom to do her own planning, the downfall in the her relationship with her previous labels. The tight schedule for the new single means Helena will constantly be in the public eye. The album was announced as a double CD promotion, featuring a new studio album, IV, and a greatest hits, Hearts, thus creating the fourth album, Four of Hearts.
Personal Life[edit | edit source]
Helena formed a close friendship with Elice Claire early in their career, and to this day they are constantly working together. Claire is Helena's main collaborator and writer on all four of her albums. Helena also formed a professional relationship with Alesha, China, & Ben Johnston, who all wrote for her albums and later formed friendships. Her love life is generally under wraps at most time, after a big break up from ex-boyfriend Logan Cross, and the heartbreak from her boyfriend, Dean, whom she was engaged to in 2010, before separating soon after in 2011. She is admits as of May, 2012 that she is single.
