The first season of Sweet Like Candi premiered on March 17, 2011 and concluded on May 19, 2011. It followed Candi's life as she attempted to release her debut single.

Synopsis[edit | edit source]

Candi's journey to become a successful popstar is documented. The series first shows her travelling to LA to work on her debut, working with producers such as Dr.Luke. During this trip, Candi meets MTV presenter Chad Heinstein, and the pair begin to date. While in LA, Candi spends a lot of time with best friend Blonde Ambition, who lives there. Never far away from drama, Candi is later invaded by a photographer who sticks his camera lense up her skirt. Candi takes the man to court and manages to place a restraining order on him. Early on in the series, it becomes apparent that Candi's boyfriend Chad isn't actually the nicest of people, and their relationship comes to a climax in episode 4, when Chad pushes Candi down three flights of stairs due to her closeness to Dante member Callum Andrews. Following the incident, Callum came to Candi's rescue, and the pair began dating, gaining the nickname "Candum". From episode 4 onwards, Callum joined the show's opening credits listed as a main character. Although the show primarily focuses on Candi, as the season progressed more emphasis was placed upon those close to Candi. One of Candi's best friends, Jason Adams's transformation was followed, as his record label forced him to change his appearance as well as his adoption to 4tune. Blonde Ambition's break-up from partner Skylar was also shown. The show also gave an insight into Candi's family, with her brother Chase Elite being one of the five main characters, and the camera's followed him attempting to start a music career himself. Candi's sister Misty Elite also has a supporting role, although she is shown to not be as close to her sibling as Candi and Chase are to each other. The season finale is Candi discovering what position That's Hot has achieved, showing whether she is a success or not, and if her music career will continue. The single debuted at #1 and in the season's closing scenes, the cast go out to celebrate.
