Critical reception[edit | edit source]

"The Thought of You" received positive reviews from critics and fans who complimented the song's lyrics and production. On a rare and surprising occurrence, Hawthorne's vocal performance was also praised though many critics, including PopJustice, who gave the song it's only documented negative review, accused Hawthorne of "overusing" pitch correction software on the song.

After its premiere, "The Thought of You (Brings Me To Life)" debuted at #19 on the UK Downloads Chart and managed to stay there for two weeks before it rose to #12. "The Thought of You" has since been recognized as one of the longest-staying songs on the download charts.
