REDRUM is the second studio album by American pop singer Sexy Star. It was released August 30, 2010 and marks Star's first ever album release with label Saturdays Records which he signed to in July 2010 due to the closure of Elite Records. The album debuted at #2 with sales of over 80,000, a much higher debut position compared to his previous album which debuted at #9. The album went silver in its second week and was certified platinum on 31st October.

The album's lead single "Hollywood Is Dead" became Star's first ever top 5 hit as a main artist and received backing from many famous names in the industry such as Lindsay Belle who rooted for the song to have success on the charts. The album's second and final single, "Death Dance" was released October 25, 2010, a suitable release date for the Halloween vibe of the track.

Critical reception[edit | edit source]

REDRUM received generally positive to mixed reviews from most critics. The album being praised for its departure of vulgar and controversial dance-pop tracks, and an introduction to the darker and more maturer side of Star, the overall sound much rockier. Entertainment Weekly described the album as a "huge progression in sound" and a "pop masterpiece", stating that the album had a "variety of styles for fans of all different genres". NME praised the more serious side to Star, stating "it's a fun album, but nothing silly like the previous album, this is differently step in the right direction". Other media sources were less positive such as the Daily Mirror who claimed the album was "a minor step up from Queen Bitch but still mainly mindless pop apart from the lead single".
