Video[edit | edit source]

Begins in silence, however, we see a couple arguing, soon turning violent, the man slaps his girlfriend Violet across the face as she looks shocked for a moment, before packing her stuff and leaving. Fast forward to the next day, we see the man in Violet's apartment, trying to apologise.

"I'm sorry..."

It was the one thing Violet didn't want to hear.

"Are you fucking joking?"

"What?"

"You know what, Jamal, I'm not sitting here listening to your shit, get out."

"But wh-"

Her tone turned angry.

"Get out."

As he refused to move from the sofa, she grabbed his car keys, opened the door and threw them out with great force. It was the most obvious thing to do, and just as she thought, he went running, shouting out to her as he ran out the door.

"Fuck... I'll call you!"

She smiled to herself and slammed the door shut, turning her back to lean against it. Sure, her face stung, but it was the first of a long line of events that she'd thought about in her mind on getting back at him. It was only the beginning. Whether she'd actually get round to doing the things she thought about though, was another thing.

The scene quickly cuts to Violet out with her friends at a club as she looks to forget about Jamal and all of her failed past relationships. "Lady Danger" is playing in the background. Up at the bar, she looks slightly depressed as we see a sudden flashback of all of the moments she's thinking of in her mind where her heart was broken, playing in fast speed. A friend manages to snap her out of it and makes her down a few shots to liven up, the girls stay at the club until the early hours of the morning. Obviously having drunk too much, Violet stumbles out and vomits against a wall at the side of the club where a mysterious and handsome man is stood smoking a cigarette, sporting a leather jacket and clutching a motorbike helmet in his spare hand. Seeing her stood out in nothing but a mini black dress on a cold night, he walks up to her and without a word, puts his jacket around her. She turns her head to look at the man and as she goes to thank him, he puts his finger to her lips, Violet pulls him in closer to her and kisses him passionately. The man takes her hand, throws on his helmet and climbs onto his motorbike, Violet gets on the back and he takes the two of them back to his place.

Now seen at his place, he puts his key in the door and leads her inside. She throws him against a wall and kisses him again, slamming the door shut. Unable to wait, she throws him down on the sofa and begins to unbutton his shirt, kissing him from his lips and down his neck, pulling his shirt off and pressing her lips against his bare chest. He picks her up and takes her to his bedroom, the camera stays focused on the door which slams shut, the scene fades into the bedroom afterwards. She's seen with her head on his chest, she sits up, wrapping the bed sheets around her.

"I don't know your name..."

"Tony."

She smiled.

"Violet. Nice to meet you."

He looked into her eyes and smiled back.

"Well, Violet, I'm not really one for introductions, but from that one, I think this is the start of something very, very beautiful."

"You think?"

"Definitely."

Her eyes moved towards a clock on the wall.

"You don't have to go, you know. Stay the night. I'd hate to throw a pretty girl out of bed at five in the morning."

She wasn't planning on leaving, unsure of whether her judgement was from the alcohol, she still decided that Tony was better than the other seven of them. That's what she said with the last one.

"I love you."

"What?"

"I do, I love you."

"Come on... it takes more than a quickie to fall in love darling, believe me."

She closed her eyes, something at the back of her intoxicated mind made her realise that she was doing it again.

"Sorry."

He simply smiled, she closed her eyes.

Opening her eyes, her arm reached out for Tony, instead, her arm felt an empty half of the bed.

"Tony?"

Hearing her voice, Tony hurred in with a cup of coffee, placing it at her bedside.

"You alright? Got a headache?"

She gave a faint nod and smiled at him as she took a sip. Tony scratched his head as he sat by the side of the bed and looked at her.

"Listen, do you remember last night?"

"Of course."

"So, you don't think I took advantage, do you?"

"Of course not."

"Good, cause I don't do this often, infact, I don't do it at all."

"What do you mean?"

"Picking up drunken girls from clubs and taking them back to mine, I'm not into that, and yet... you're here."

"What makes me so different then?"

She took another sip of her coffee, looking at him afterwards, he didn't really have much of an answer.

"I really don't know - I think it's just that instinct."

"Instinct?"

"You know, like, when you get a feeling about somebody, you know they're good for you. You can feel some sort of connection. I think you feel it too."

"This isn't about what I said last night was it?"

"What did you say?"

She paused, slightly embarrased.

"I said that I love you."

"Oh... well, I gotta say, it took me by surprise. It isn't normally until around the twentieth fuck that I get love declared for me."

He smirked, she kept a serious expression as she stared off into space. He wondered.

"Do you really love me?"

"I think... umm... you know, I don't trust myself anymore."

"Why not?"

"I don't know, I've just had a bad past with guys."

"Does it feel right?"

She kissed him.

"Did that feel right?"

He gave her a long, passionate kiss back.

"It did."

She smiled and said nothing, it was all she needed to know.

It had been fifty seven days after Violet and Jamal broke up... they lasted fifty seven days together. Violet wasn't sure on how long her and Tony had been together - were they even together? She didn't really want an answer, being together with someone hadn't really worked out in the past... she liked the mystery this time around. Maybe the mystery was what was keeping them together, if Tony knew what Violet was really thinking, maybe he'd flee before things got serious. After laying around for pretty much the whole day at his place, she decided to confront him.

"Tony, can I ask you something?"

"Go on."

"What would you say we are?"

"What do you mean?"

"Like... relationship wise, what are we?"

"Well, we certainly ain't married."

He chuckled, Violet raised her eyebrows.

"I'm being serious."

"You're my girlfriend."

She closed her eyes for a moment.

"Am I?"

"Yeah... aren't you?"

She knew it was all downhill from the moment he said those three words, "You're my girlfriend." It was always the beginning of the end from there, she knew from past experiences.

"I don't know."

Tony looked a little concerned, she thought to herself, it was best not to start something right now.

"Sorry, ignore me."

She gave him a faint smile, then rested her head on his shoulder.

A DAY LATER

In Violet's kitchen laid a large, narrow table, she sat on it and looked at a scalpel and a great amount of rope which was next to her. The table was big enough for a human body to lie on. The evening was set for Tony, she gave him a call.

"Tony, do you think you could come round to mine?"

"Sure, what's up?"

"I've cooked dinner for you."

"Really? Damn, you're too good to me."

He laughed.

"I know."

"I'll be over in a bit."

She hung up.

Fading to Violet and Tony sat at the table that was seen just moments before, we see them both eating Chicken cacciatore (ITALIAN: Hunter), the scalpel and rope are no longer seen. Tony was evidently impressed.

"I had no idea you could cook this good! I would have had you cooking for me a long time ago if I knew."

They both laughed.

"It's my mother's recipe... top secret, as always."

She took a sip of the red wine that she had poured for both of them.

"There's always wonderful secrets in my food, why do you think it tastes so good?"

She winked, he raised his eyebrows.

"I'm sure... there is."

"Tony, are you OK?"

He nodded, taking a drink of wine, before dropping the glass, smashing on the floor. He tried to stand, but fell over, a shard of the glass cutting his stomach as he landed on it. Violet's sudden care of asking if he was OK diminished, she attempted to get him onto the table. It was a big task for a fairly small woman, considering Tony was 6'4 with a muscular build.

Cutting straight to Tony's hands and feet tied up at the ends of the table, Violet smiles, Tony still unconscious. She grabs his shirt and pulls it away from him, digging the scalpel into it and ripping it open to see his bare chest. She draws a heart on his chest with a pen, she then sat and finished her glass of wine. She waited.

His eyes soon opened.

"Violet..."

"Yes?"

"What the fuck..."

"Can you answer a question for me?"

"Why the fuck am I tied to this table?"

"Tony, am I your girlfriend?"

His eyes looked down to the outline of a heart on his chest, he noticed the scalpel in her hand. He swallowed.

"Violet, what the fuck are you doing?"

"Tony, am I your girlfriend?"

"Yes... aren't you?"

She grew closer to him and placed the blade of the scalpel against part of the outline.

"Tony, am I your girlfriend?"

She raised her eyebrows.

"No. If you don't wanna be. No."

"OK."

She untied him as she tried to apologise.

"I'm sorry."

"Forget it."

He threw his jacket on and buttoned it up to hide his ripped shirt.

"Don't be angry with me..."

"I just wanna know what the fuck you were playing at. You wanted to kill me, didn't you?"

He ran his hands over his face, still drowsy from the sleeping tablets.

"No, that wasn't it."

"What then?"

"I'm scared. I don't want to lose you."

"I thought we were cool, what's gotten into you?"

"Tony, please don't be mad."

"I'm hardly gonna be jumping for joy over my girlfriend who doesn't wanna be called my girlfriend trying to kill me. I don't wanna deal with that."

"It's when things start to go wrong."

"What?"

"When a guy calls me his girlfriend, it's always great before that, and then it all soon goes wrong. I start to panic... that's why I did what I just did. If you loved me, you'd understand why."

He didn't understand why. But he did love her.

"Look, I'm not mad, just give me some time, OK?"

He placed his hand on her face, then left.

The evening three nights ago was unexpected, but Tony knew the longer he left it, the more awkward things would be between the pair. He called her.

"Tony?"

"Hey, Violet."

"I miss you."

"Me too. Trust me. I've forgotten all about... you know."

It was more traumatic than he'd like you to believe.

"Good."

"Anyway, just come by mine whenever, we'll catch up."

"Alright. I love you."

"I love you too. See ya."

As Violet steps through the front door of Tony's place, she hears Tony and another woman (who is in fact his sister) talking in the lounge, she closes the door quietly and then hides in the kitchen with the door slightly open in order to listen. She sees them hug and then grabs a cleaver from the kitchen as Tony's sister leaves - she had obviously been waiting for this moment to happen. Thinking the worst due to her lack of faith in men, she assumes that Tony is having an affair. She walks out of the kitchen and from behind, throws Tony against a wall.

"What the fu-"

She interrupts.

"Shh..."

"Violet? Wh-"

She silences him by putting a finger to his lips.

"Shh... do you love me?"

He laughs, confused at what she's playing at.

"Tell me then."

She removes her finger from his lips.

"Do you love me?"

"You know I do."

"Prove it."

She raises the cleaver up slightly from her hand and holds it against his chest, the blade of the now pressing against him softly, threatening to pierce through him at any moment. She grabs his hand and makes him place it on the handle of the cleaver.

"You can do it. Go on, prove it."

With her hand on his, she pushes the blade into him as she lets go.

"I didn't tell you to stop."

He closes in eyes in pain as she stands beside him, she grabs his face with her hand and kisses his lips, before pulling him away. He barely manages to say her name.

"Violet..."

"If you loved me, you'd do it."

He pushes it in deeper as he shouts out, falling against the wall as he lands onto the floor. She looks down at him as his desperate shouts soon end, she stares down at him for a moment.

"I love you."

She walks upstairs slowly and sits down at a vanity mirror, staring at herself as she wipes a single tear away. She writes "I KNOW" on the mirror with her lipstick, pretending Tony is going to see it.

VIOLET (V.O.) Well, it was better to have had a true love and lost, than to have never had a true love at all.

She rises from her seat and walks back downstairs, lying on the ground next to Tony, her arms around him. The camera looks down on them as it slowly zooms out to a fade.

"LADY DANGER STRIKES AGAIN" is the final thing we see.
