Lucas Brandt is an openly-gay American singer. He auditioned for URAPS Idol 12 in 2011, and was likable enough in his audition, making it into the top 12. Lucas' stay did not last long, paying more attention to his looks than his vocals, and he was eliminated in 10th place. In December of 2011, Lucas launched his post-Idol career, positioning himself as "the gay Brett Clarkson" with his overtly-sexual image and highly explicit material. He released the double A-side single "Hypersonic / Sex-Mas" on Christmas week 2011, and in 2012 released his debut album "World War Sex" alongside lead single "Down My Throat" which was a Tango Challenge duet with Afrika Rose. The second single from his album, "Stroke The Ego", was released in April 2012. Third single "Brett Clarkson" was released in August to become his first top 5 hit. To date, all of Lucas' releases have charted in the top ten.
Personal History[edit | edit source]
Lucas Brandt was born on November 28th, 1984, in Pittsburgh. Not much is known about his history, except that his musical interests lie in beat-driven and club-oriented music, predominantly in the dance genre. It is also not known at what age Lucas became sexually active, or what compelled him to be so open and explicit with his sexuality, however it is known that Lucas had been offered and considered a job as a gay male pornographic actor, which he ultimately turned down in favour of music. In 2011 he auditioned for URAPS Idol as an attempt to get his foot in the door to launching his own solo career. Notably, Brandt toned it down for his audition, singing "Here Comes The Rain Again" by the Eurythmics, but his now commonly-known persona emerged in subsequent performances, and from being media-trained by Lucas' idol, Brett Clarkson. Lucas does not talk about his age, and it is not known whether it's because he is embarassed of his age or whether he wants to pretend to be younger in an attempt to appear more appealing.

"Uraps Idol 12" Era[edit | edit source]
Lucas appeared in the first heat of the URAPS Idol 12 auditions, performing "Here Comes The Rain Again" by the Eurythmics, and his audition was generally well-received with the judges and the audience, as he was voted straight through into the top 12 and bypassing the wildcard round. In the top 12, with the theme of URAPS Top 40, Lucas sang "Champion" by Blonde Ambition featuring Brett Clarkson and Kirby L. Avalon. The cocky attitude and overt sexuality began to emerge with this performance, as the song was written from a female perspective, and Lucas did not gender-flip. The performance was not as well-received with the judges, nor did he fare well with the public, as he was one of the lowest voted for that week. For top 11 week, Australian week, Lucas sang "Loud" by Stan Walker. The performance was better-received by the judges but the public was not well impressed, as Lucas was in the bottom two and barely scraped through to avoid elimination. For top 10 week, Elice Claire week, Lucas covered "Hypersonic" from Elice's debut album. Once again, the judges liked it but the public didn't, as Lucas was eliminated in 10th place.
Lucas then recorded a full-length studio version of the song for the season's compilation, "The Dirtiest Hits", which was released at the end of August 2011. In December, Lucas returned with the announcement that he had been signed to Blacklight Records, and he would be releasing "Hypersonic" as the third single from the compilation, following season winner Regina Harper's winner's single "What I Started", and third place runner-up Arianna DiCorso's single "The Analyst". Lucas also revealed that he would be releasing a Christmas song called "Sex-Mas", and that the resultant double A-side, "Hypersonic / Sex-Mas", would be released on December 19th, 2011, otherwise known as Christmas week. Lucas' promo efforts landed him in at #6, and the single was certified silver after charting for five weeks. Neither song would be included on Lucas' album when he prepared it for release in 2012.
"World War Sex" Era[edit | edit source]
Lucas was revealed to be one of the competitors in the 2012 Tango Challenge; he was paired up with urban singer and rapper Afrika Rose, and together they prepared the song "Down My Throat" as their tango single. While they were working on the single, Lucas was also recording his album "World War Sex" for release. Lucas and Afrika (deemed Freakus by fans) were seen as potential contenders to win the challenge, but they missed the top 5 which was seen as a slight disappointment. The single charted at #6, and is so far Lucas' biggest hit to date, with strong airplay and decent sales. The album was a surprise success, entering at #2 on the chart and exceeding expectations. The single and album were followed up with "Stroke The Ego" as the second single. It was tipped to be a bigger hit than "Down My Throat" but the single's performance was underwhelming, becoming Lucas' lowest peaking single at #7, although it has still outsold Lucas' debut single. "Brett Clarkson" was announced as the third single, and Brett himself was included on the single version. The song went top 5 becoming Lucas' highest-peaking single. "Down My Throat" is still currently the bigger hit however, having greater sales and airplay support. Lucas was a supporting act for Bella-May on the UK leg of her "Sex Before Marriage" tour. A fourth single from the album was rumoured but with a lack of evidence suggesting a release it is unlikely another single from "World War Sex" will be released.
Personal Life[edit | edit source]
Lucas does not have much of a 'personal' life to speak of, since so much of what he does becomes public record. Lucas claims that however many women Brett Clarkson has claimed to have slept with (the number supposedly exceeds 500), then Lucas has slept with as many men. Lucas is known to not like dating, and does not seem to believe in love, preferring sex and lots of it, as frequently as possible. Lucas did have a fling with Darren Clarke that ended in disaster - the two were in-studio recording a song together, which morphed into going out for drinks then returning to Lucas' hotel room where the two made a sex tape. The tape was stolen and a storm of controversy erupted. Eventually, Lucas got the tape back. Lucas has become somewhat of a figure in the gay community, starring in an ad campaign for Trojan condoms targetted towards gay men. Lucas claims to never have unsafe sex, which is his reasoning for being involved with the campaign. Lucas is currently in a relationship of sorts with Jason Adams, having hooked up with the fellow gay popstar through Jason's younger brother Caymon, whom Lucas offered to teach the art of seduction.
