"Forever's Not for Always" is the second single and final single from Elice Claire's second album Intimate Encounters. The song was written by singer Elice Claire and produced by Diamond Cut. It was released in the UK on 22 March 2010.

Song information[edit | edit source]

The song contains instrumental samples from Hilary Duff's track "Holiday". The song was one of the four tracks featured on the iTunes Countdown to Intimate Encounters. The track was added to iTunes on 19 October 2009. Elice describes the song as a summer ballad, saying that it's one of her favorite ballads on the album.
The songs is about a guy making a promise to his love that he would be around forever and that they're love is eternal. Fate takes a turn and the guy dies, leaving his love torn apart. The girl asks him why did he make promises he wasnt able to kee, coz now that he's gone, her love is shattered.

Critical reception[edit | edit source]

Music Beat gave the song a positive review saying the song begins with a warm melody followed by gentle singing from Claire. All Music describes the song as Elice's best work since her single "Someone Else" which was released in the last week of 2009. Perez Hilton post an early clip of the song, also calling it Elice's best work, mostly for it's outstanding instrumental sampler and touching the lyrics. Perez was quoted saying that the song did lack some vocal strength from Ms. Claire, but it's tender lyrics makes it up for it. Digital Spy said that Forever's Not for Always is "is a mid-tempo pop/hip-hop song that is a little redundant, but is also very catchy."

Music Video[edit | edit source]

Elice in the video for 'Forever's Not for Always'

The video opens with Elice in a bed with a portrait in her hands. She suddenly drops the portrait on the floor and it smashes to pieces. She slowly opens her closet and grabs a long black Trench coat. She grabs her purse and exits the room. As she's closes the door behind her, the song kicks in. The whole room catches on fire, as the camera focuses on the shattered portrait on the floor; it's picture of her wedding. As Elice is walking down the hall, she looks at picture frames on the wall. She stops in front of a frame and takes look at it; as she's looking at it; she reflects back in time on that picture. It's her and her husband having picnic at the beach. She flashes back to present and walks away from the frame. As she walks away, the frame catches on fire. As she walking down the hall looking at the picture frames on the wall, all the pictures starts to come to life. She walks by touching each picture. As she touches them, they all catch on fire. The camera walks ahead of Elice and you can see that behind her everything's burning. She walks down the stairs and as she's walking down, her eyes get teary. She stops and looks at another picture frame on the wall. It's picture of her husband with a little girl. Elice then reaches her pocket and grabs a tissue and wipes off her tears. When she reach the bottom of the stair, all the frames on wall start to burn. Elice enters her living room and sits by the piano. She puts her hands on top of the piano and flashes back. In her flashback she sees her husband playing the piano for her, while she's in the couch with her wedding dress on; she's smiling and clapping at her husband. Elice flashes back to the present and *sighs*. She gets up from the piano and walks out of the living room. When Elice leaves the room, the piano and the couch catches on fire...Soon enough the whole living room is burning. Elice grabs a black umbrella which is by her door and walks out. As she shuts the door behind her, the whole house catches on fire. Elice looks above and sees a dark sky. She stops in the middle of the drive way to put her gloves on and to cover her face with a black veil. Rain starts to pour down; Elice looks up to the sky and starts to sing along with the song. As the rain falls on her, the video starts to change to color. Elice turns around and sees her whole house on fire. She drops her purse and her umbrella and removes her black Trench coat. The rain suddenly stops and beautiful sunshine appears. Elice looks up to the blue sky and looks down again. When she looks down, she's in a beautiful dress in an open field. She suddenly turns around and sees her husband and a little girl running towards her. She smiles and run towards them as well. Elice hugs her husband and the little girl (her daughter). She closes her eyes and you can see tears falling down. As she opens her eyes again, her husband and daughter are gone. She looks up, and a bright light is shinning down on her. All the sudden she starts to go up with the light, she spreads her arms wide open as angel wings opens and she flies off to heaven. Rain starts to pour down as Elice flies away, the rain washes off the scene back to her house. Back to Elice's house, her husband and daughter are dressed in black as they leave the house. Elice's husbands puts their daughter in the car and closes the door. The little girl looks out the window and sees Elice as an angel standing in the drive way waving goodbye to her. The little girl is in tears waving goodbye back to her mum. The car leaves the property a "for sale" sign is seen in front of the house. Elice fades away as rain starts to pour.
